The man who fired the Arrow ABM in combat was drafted to become a cook

When Second Lt. Chen Shaked reported to the Israel Defense Force induction center, the assignment officer told him he would end up as a cook or maintenance worker in the military. But the former basketball player wanted to be a combat soldier and choose to be assigned to the air defense artillery. On Mar. 17, he fired a Arrow anti-missile interceptor at an incoming Syrian missile. Becoming the first person to do so.

USN wants its future frigates to provide air defense cover

There might be further changes to the U.S. Navy’s requirements for a new frigate with a study group being commissioned to examine adding air defense capability to the requirements.
