New CH-47F Chinooks to enhance Egypt’s heavy-lift objectives

The U.S. Army has recently awarded Boeing a contract to produce 12 new CH-47F Chinooks for the Egyptian Air Force. This $426 million foreign military sale will allow Egypt to replace its current fleet of CH-47D aircraft with the modern F model, which boasts advanced multi-mission capabilities.

Brand new E-11A now operating from Saudi Arabia

The 430th Expeditionary Electronic Communications Squadron (EECS), also known as the “Black Wolves,” recently received a brand new E-11A aircraft to add to their fleet.

A new U.S. Air Force E-11A BACN aircraft taxis through a “bird bath” at Prince Sultan Air Base, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dec. 16, 2022. This E-11A is the newest addition to 430th Expeditionary Electronic Communications Squadron’s fleet. Commonly known as Battlefield Airborne Communications Node, or BACN, this aircraft extends the range of communications channels and enables better communication amongst units. China releases video showing its PLANAF J-11BSH fighter intercepting USAF RC-135V

On December 21, there was an encounter between a Chinese People’s Liberation Army Naval Air Force (PLANAF) J-11BSH fighter jet and a US Air Force RC-135V #64-14842 Rivet Joint electronic intelligence aircraft over the South China Sea in international airspace. The U.S. has accused the Chinese fighter jet of “unsafe and unprofessional” behavior, stating that the Chinese pilot flew within six meters of the USAF plane, forcing it to take “evasive action” to avoid a collision.

Japan to protect five air bases from electromagnetic pulse attack

The Ministry of Defense in Japan has announced that it will be moving the headquarters of the Ground Self-Defense Force and Maritime Self-Defense Force underground at four facilities in Okinawa and the Kyushu region by fiscal year 2028. Additionally, the Ministry has plans to implement measures against electromagnetic pulse attacks at five Japan Air Self-Defense Force bases by fiscal year 2029.
