ANG’s first F-35 instructor pilot

Maj. Jay Spohn is the U.S. Air National Guard’s first F-35 Lightning II instructor pilot and he completed his final of six flights on Aug. 3.

First F-35 airborne weapons separation test

F-35B test aircraft BF-3 has completed the first airborne weapons separation test for the JSF program. Flown by Lockheed Martin test pilot Dan Levin, BF-3 executed an inert 1,000-pound GBU-32 Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) separation weapon over water in an Atlantic test range .
