17th Cavalry Regiment, 3CAB transitions to AH-64E

The U.S. Arm’s 3rd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade has started its transition to the AH-64E attack helicopter.

An Apache Pilots assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, conducts familiarization training on the AH-64E Apache helicopter in a flight simulator at Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia, April 1. The brigade fielded the AH-64E which replaced the older AH-64D. The AH-64E Apache helicopter is designed to increase power margins and reliability which increases unit readiness and lethality. Taiwan’s PAC-3 unit can deployed in 25 minutes

Taiwan recently held a combat readiness exercise and the Ministry of National Defense’s Military News Agency has produce a video of the exercise. In the video, an officer in charge of a PAC-3 battery describe how his unit can be deployed for combat in 25 minutes and the battery is operational in 70 minutes.

Qatar, Saudi Arabia and U.K. will operate the AH-64E V6

The U.S. Army’s Apache New Equipment Training (NET) team qualifies pilots who fly existing AH-64E version 4 or earlier into a fully qualified V6 pilot. The team is also assisting Saudi Ministry of National Guard (MNG) , Qatar and the United Kingdom customers with the training.

South Korea plans to buy up to 36 attack helicopters by 2028

South Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) says the defense project promotion committee has approved the purchase of around 36 attack helicopters.

An AH-64 Apache augmented to the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Aviation Regiment, 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade provides attack support to ground forces Sept. 21 at the Rodriguez Live Fire Complex in South Korea.
