Airbus successfully tests enhanced A400M firefighting kit: Improved efficiency and rapid deployment

Airbus Defence and Space has recently concluded a successful two-week flight-test campaign for its A400M Roll-on/Roll-off firefighting prototype kit. The campaign, conducted in south-western and central Spain, showcased the prototype’s ability to drop 20,000 liters of retardant, creating high concentration lines over 400 meters long on the ground.

Canada to acquire up to 16 P-8A aircraft

In a groundbreaking step toward modernizing its maritime patrol capabilities, Canada has solidified a government-to-government agreement with the United States for the procurement of up to 16 P-8A Poseidon aircraft. Valued at an estimated $7.7 billion, this strategic move is designed to replace Canada’s aging CP-140 Aurora fleet, which has faithfully served for over four decades. In March this year, the Canadian government announced that the Boeing P-8A Poseidon was selected as the preferred candidate to replace its aging CP-140 Aurora fleet. The decision was made after a thorough process that included engagement with industry and Canada’s closest allies.

MH-139A enters LRIP phase

Boeing has commenced low-rate initial production of the MH-139A Grey Wolf helicopter, marking a significant milestone after successfully concluding the program’s Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) phase. The completion of this phase included the delivery of the sixth and final test aircraft to the U.S. Air Force last month.

Switzerland joins elite group of PAC-3 MSE partner nations

In a significant move to bolster its national defense capabilities, Switzerland has formalized a $331 million agreement with Lockheed Martin to purchase state-of-the-art Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) guided missiles and related support equipment. This deal cements Switzerland’s commitment to safeguarding its airspace and homeland against evolving threats.
