V-22 Aerial Refueling System (VARS) will start testing this fall, NAVIR disclosed recently. A U.S. Marine spokeswoman told Marine Corps Times in an emailed statement that the VARS will add an additional 10,000 pounds of fuel to the tilt-rotor.
A F-35B was forced to make an emergency landing at Tsuiki airbase, Japan on Apr. 24. The Japan Air Self-Defense Force says the jet had issues with its airframe that resulted in the emergency landing.
The Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) has been delivered to VMFA-115 and the unit’s F/A-18s recently fired the weapon during practice.
