Retired Lockheed Martin test pilot Jon Beesley was back in Fort Worth this month to celebrate the first flight of the F-35. Beesley flew the maiden flight of the F-35 on Dec. 15, 2006.
At Edwards Air Force Base, the 461st Flight Test Squadron is employing all three variants of the F-35 to test whether each variant’s on board Multifunction Advanced Data Link (MADL) could talk to each other during a hunt for Ground Based Air Defense System.

As of 4 a.m. Japan Time, the search is still ongoing for the missing U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18 pilot who had to eject from his aircraft at approximately 6:40 p.m. on Dec. 7, 120 miles southeast of Iwakuni, Japan.
