Jolly Rogers and Black Lions participated in Ford’s first AIC event
USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) had its first Air Intercept Control (AIC) event on Jul. 30 and the aircraft carrier’s crew directed F/A-18s from VFA-103 and VFA-213 to protect high value asset against enemy threats.

Lt. j.g. Madeline G. Swegle was designated a naval aviator and received her Wings of Gold on Jul. 30 and she will now head to NAS Whidbey Island to train as a EA-18G pilot with VAQ-129.

A VF-154 F-14 crew ejected over Iraq in 2003, the NRO came to their rescue
On April Fools’ Day in 2003, a F-14A crew from VF-154 was forced to eject over Iraq after the jet’s engines ceased in mid-air due to fuel starvation.
