USS Nitze fired 3 Tomahawks at radar sites in Yemen
U.S. President Barak Obama has authorized the Pentagon to conduct strikes in Yemen and USS Nitze was ordered to fire three BGM-109 Tomahawk cruise missiles at radar sites in Yemen on Oct. 13.

Another missile attack on USS Mason
The U.S. Navy said guided-missile destroyer USS Mason came under a missile attack off Yemen again. This is the second such incident in four days.

USS Nimitz now armed with anti-torpedo defense system
USS Nimitz became the latest nuclear-powered aircraft carrier to have a hard-kill anti-torpedo defense system when the carrier left the shipyard last week.
ATLANTIC OCEAN (March 19, 2013) John Jamieson, a contractor with the U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) PMS 415’s Surface Ship Torpedo Defense (SSTD) team, inspects a portion of the Rapid Prototype Torpedo Warning System (TWS) aboard the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77). George H.W. Bush and SSTD conducted at-sea testing and data collection of TWS and Countermeasure Anti-Torpedo (CAT) system. For first time in combat, USN warship fired missiles to defend against incoming missile attack
USNI News has learn that during a anti-ship missile attack against U.S. Navy guided missile destroyer USS Mason on Oct. 10. The American warship had fired three anti-air missiles to defend itself and nearby USS Ponce.
