JS Hyuga fires ESSM at RIMPAC 2016

160722-O-RB581-062 PACIFIC OCEAN (July 22, 2016) - Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force destroyer helicopter ship JS Hyuga (DDH 181) launches a missile as part of Rim of the Pacific 2016. Twenty-six nations, more than 40 ships and submarines, more than 200 aircraft, and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 30 to Aug. 4, in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity that helps participants foster and sustain the cooperative relationships that are critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans. Indian Navy Sea Kings bid farewell to INS Viraat on her last voyage

India’s second aircraft carrier INS Viraat left Naval Dockyard Mumbai on Jul. 23 on her own power for Kochi one last time. Sea King helicopters from the Western Naval Command escorted the carrier out of the harbor.

North Korea constructing underground facility for its ballistic missile submarines

Two new 150 meters fortified submarine pens are under construction at Mayang-do naval base in North Korea, the Telegraph quoted Jane’s as saying.

U.S. Navy carried out Aegis interoperability test with Spanish Navy

USS Gerald R. Ford not ready for war

The Pentagon’s Director of Operational Test and Evaluation, Dr. J. Michael Gilmore, has joined the Inspector General in criticizing the war fighting capability of the newest nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford.
