SM-6 successfully engaged supersonic target from over-the-horizon

The U.S. Navy has verified the ability of the SM-6 interceptor to engage incoming supersonic targets from over-the-horizon.

Orbital ATK successfully carried out high-diver tests of Coyote targets for U.S. Navy

The 47th and 48th mission of the GQM-163A Coyote Supersonic Target Vehicle recently took place from San Nicolas Island. The two targets were flown in the high-diver flight trajectory up to 35,000 feet before executing a 40-degree unpowered dive into the ocean.

U.S. Navy has completed live fires of AIM-9X Block II

The U.S. Navy has successfully completed operational testing and evaluation live fires of the AIM-9X Block II missile, Raytheon announced.

This is what it looks like to catapult from the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launching System

Huntington Ingalls Industries attached a GoPro camera to a weighted sled during a media event on board Pre-Commissioning Unit Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) to observe the testing of the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launching System (EMALS) on Jun. 16.

Ship’s sponsor Susan Ford Bales was given the honor to fire the catapult.
