3D-printed UAV helps Royal Navy ship navigate through Antarctic sea ice

Last summer, the Southampton University demonstrated the feasibility of launching its 3D-printed unmanned aerial vehicle from a Royal Navy warship. This time, the UAV is being tested in tough Antarctic conditions aboard the Royal Navy’s ice patrol ship HMS Protector.

USAF to intergrate Litening pod on MQ-9

In a pre-solicitation notice posted on the Federal Business Opportunities website, the U.S. Air Force said it will integrate the Northrop Grumman AN/AAQ-28(V) Litening targeting and designation pod onto the MQ-9 unmanned aerial vehicle.

USAF redesignating MQ-1 Predator squadrons as attack squadrons

Eight U.S. Air Force MQ-1 Predator squadrons that are currently designated as reconnaissance squadrons will become attack squadrons.

U.S. Army wants navigation software that allows drones to scout for ground vehicles

The U.S. Army is solicitation the industry’s help to develop an Autonomous UAS Navigation system that will allow unmanned aerial vehicles to scout ahead of ground vehicles.
