Britain to buy two Zephyrs

The British Ministry of Defense is reported to be buying two Zephyr high-altitude unmanned aerial vehicles from Airbus. The purchase was announced by Secretary of State for Defense, Michael Fallon.

MQ-1B crashes in southern Turkey

The U.S. Air Force confirmed that it lost a MQ-1B in an unpopulated area in southern Turkey at approximately 1:40 a.m. local time, Feb. 3.

Hackers claim to have taken control of NASA’s Global Hawk

A group of hackers calling themselves AnonSec claimed that they had managed to upload a file containing a flight plan into computers that control NASA’s Global Hawk.

IAI in joint venture with South Korea firm to develop VTOL UAV

A joint venture to develop vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) unmanned aerial vehicle for the South Korean market has been formed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and Korean composite manufacturer Hankuk Carbon.

UCLASS will be dedicated aerial refueling tanker

Defense News reports that the Pentagon has decided that the U.S. Navy’s Unmanned Carrier-Launched Airborne Surveillance and Strike (UCLASS) is to be a dedicated aerial refueling tanker for the aircraft carriers.
