CNAS report outlines drone strategy for defending Taiwan

A new report by the Center for a New American Security (CNAS) titled “Swarms Over the Strait” examines the evolving role of drones in potential conflicts within the Indo-Pacific, particularly a scenario involving China and Taiwan. The report analyzes recent wars with drone use (Libya, Nagorno-Karabakh, Ukraine) and emphasizes the need for the United States and Taiwan to adapt their drone strategies for a large-scale conflict.

Red Sea drone attacks prompt U.S. Navy C-UAS scramble

The U.S. Navy has issued an Area of Interest (AOI) seeking proposals for a new counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS) solution called Counter Unmanned Aircraft Systems – NEXT (Counter NEXT). This initiative comes amid growing concerns about drone attacks targeting naval vessels and commercial shipping in strategic maritime regions, particularly the Red Sea.

Chinese student faces espionage charges for drone photos of Newport News Shipyard

A Chinese graduate student studying at the University of Minnesota is facing unusual Espionage Act charges related to drone photography near a critical U.S. shipyard in Virginia.

Grand Forks Air Force Base soars to new record with 34.8 hours Global Hawk flight

The 348th Reconnaissance Squadron at Grand Forks Air Force Base (AFB) has successfully extended the operational range of the unmanned RQ-4 Global Hawk aircraft, achieving a record-breaking flight time of 34.8 hours. This accomplishment surpasses both the previous unit record of 34.4 hours and the manufacturer’s record of 30 hours and 24 minutes.
