The mighty KC-46A Pegasus, Boeing’s pride and joy of the skies, has encountered some turbulence. Plagued by technical glitches and safety concerns, this aerial refueller has faced a $7 billion headwind. But instead of throwing in the towel, Boeing is rolling up its sleeves and taking the Pegasus back to the hangar for a thorough overhaul. Six critical issues stand between the Pegasus and its full potential, and here’s how Boeing plans to fix them, one by one. Michael Marrow from Breaking Defense toured Boeing’s Seattle-area facilities where the KC-46A is built and officials explained how they plan to tackle each issue.

Georgia Senate passed a resolution commemorating the 70th anniversary of the C-130

The Georgia State Senate is gearing up to celebrate a historic milestone in aviation – the 70th anniversary of the legendary C-130 Hercules aircraft. On Jan. 17, during Georgia Aerospace Day at the Gold Dome, Lockheed Martin, the aircraft’s manufacturer, received a special resolution honoring the C-130’s enduring legacy and its deep ties to the state.

ATSB of Australia releases mid-air collision preliminary report involving 2 ex-RSAF S.211s.

Two lives were tragically cut short on November 19, 2023, when two vintage jet trainer aircraft, SIAI Marchetti S-211s, collided mid-air during an aerobatic filming flight over Port Phillip Bay, south of Melbourne. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has released a preliminary report detailing the sequence of events and the ongoing investigation, aiming to shed light on this heartbreaking incident.

Contracts for Tranche 2 Tracking Layer of the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture awarded

The Space Development Agency (SDA), an arm of the U.S. Space Force, announced it has awarded contracts totaling approximately $2.5 billion to three companies for the construction and operation of 54 satellites designed to track hypersonic missiles in all phases of flight. These satellites will form the Tranche 2 Tracking Layer of the agency’s Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture, a layered network of hundreds of satellites intended to enhance missile warning and defense capabilities.
