Slovenia orders six AW139M helicopters

Slovenia is set to bolster its military capabilities with the acquisition of six advanced AW139M multi-role helicopters from Italy. The deal, signed by Defence Minister Marjan Šarec and his Italian counterpart Guido Crosetto, follows an amendment to the implementing agreement on military aviation cooperation between the two nations. Valued at $206 million, the government-to-government transaction includes the cost of certification by the Italian Military Aviation Authority, with an additional annual project management expense of approximately $468,000 for the Italian Ministry of Defence.

Joint air patrol in the South China Sea sees monitoring by Chinese fighter jets

In a significant display of regional cooperation, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Australian Defence Force (ADF) conducted a joint air patrol over the South China Sea as part of their inaugural Maritime Cooperative Activity. The operation involved a fleet of aircraft, including the Philippine Air Force’s A29B Super Tucano and N-22 Nomad, the Philippine Navy’s BNI2A aircraft, and the ADF’s P-8 Poseidon Maritime Surveillance aircraft.

New bill would allow Medal of Honor recipients to lie in honor in the Capital Rotunda

U.S. Congressman Jake Ellzey has recently introduced a significant bill, HR 6378, which aims to honor the bravery and sacrifice of Congressional Medal of Honor recipients. The proposed legislation, currently in the Veterans Affairs Committee, seeks to permit the remains of any Medal of Honor recipient to lie in honor in the Rotunda of the United States Capitol.

MH-139A enters LRIP phase

Boeing has commenced low-rate initial production of the MH-139A Grey Wolf helicopter, marking a significant milestone after successfully concluding the program’s Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) phase. The completion of this phase included the delivery of the sixth and final test aircraft to the U.S. Air Force last month.
