Arnold Air Force Base’s F-16 honors Maj. Gen. Winfield S. Harpe

A prominent feature at Gate 2 of Arnold Air Force Base stands as a tribute to the late Major General Winfield S. Harpe – an F-16 Fighting Falcon, resplendent in its dedication to a distinguished career and a life devoted to the United States Air Force.

The static F-16 Fighting Falcon on display outside Gate 2 at Arnold Air Force Base, Tenn., is dedicated to Maj. Gen. Winfield Harpe. He was killed on Dec. 5, 1988, when the aircraft he was piloting crashed in Madrid, Spain. The display was dedicated in memory of Harpe during a June 26, 2010, ceremony. Croatia takes delivery of its first Rafale fighter

In a historic ceremony at the French Air Force Base Mont-de-Marsan on October 2, 2023, the Republic of Croatia officially received the first of 12 Rafale multirole combat aircraft from the French Republic. The event marked a significant milestone in Croatia’s efforts to modernize its air force and enhance its defense capabilities.

Sunset ceremony for VMFAT-101

A historic era in naval aviation came to an end as Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 101 (VMFAT-101), affectionately known as the “SharpShooters,” was officially deactivated during a solemn “sundowner ceremony” on Friday. The decommissioning of VMFAT-101 marks the conclusion of over 50 years of dedicated service in training pilots to fly F-4 Phantoms and, later, F/A-18 Hornets.
