Embraer and FAB unveil plans for A-29 Super Tucano midlife upgrade program
Embraer and the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) have commenced midlife upgrade (MLU) studies for the A-29 Super Tucano aircraft. The A-29, currently utilized by the FAB for training, air interception, and surveillance missions, as well as by the renowned Air Demonstration Squadron (EDA), known as the “Smoke Squadron,” will undergo enhancements to meet evolving requirements.

VMFA-214 F-35Bs visit hometown of fighter ace Gregory “Pappy” Boyington
Four U.S. Marine Corps F-35Bs from VMFA-214 made a quick stop at Coeur d’Alene Airport on Jun. 17. Coeur d’Alene is the hometown of World War II ace Gregory “Pappy” Boyington, who was also the commanding officer of VMF-214 during the war.

Japan to consider export of P&W F100-PW-220 turbofan engines to Indonesia
Japan is currently contemplating the export of its used Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-220 turbofan engines to Indonesia, as reported by The Yomiuri Shimbun on June 18. The engines in question will be sourced from Japan Air Self-Defense Force F-15s that are scheduled for retirement.

FCAS program atttracts Belgium’s attention
Defense News reports that the Belgian government has recently expressed its openness to participating in a multinational European sixth-generation fighter program, known as the Future Combat Air System (FCAS).
