Sweden will enter negotiations to buy Patriot

The Swedish government has decided to procure the MIM-104 Patriot air defense missile system from Raytheon and the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration (FMV) has been authorized to enter negotiations with the U.S. government.

Three CSGs to hold joint exercise in Western Pacific

Reuters says the Pentagon is preparing for a large-scale military exercise in the Western Pacific that involves three aircraft carrier strike groups (CSG).

Japan’s Defense Minister to visit Aegis Ashore facility in Hawaii

Japan’s Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera is scheduled to make a trip to Hawaii in January and he’ll be visiting the Aegis Ashore test facility there.

Lockheed Martin to produce high power laser for fighter jet

Lockheed Martin has secured a $26.3 million contract from the U.S. Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) to design, develop and produce a high power fiber laser that will be tested on a tactical fighter jet by 2021.
