U.S. Air Force and Marine Corps in joint training with JASDF counterpart

American F-15Cs and F/A-18s based in Japan have traveled to other air bases in the country to exercise with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force this month.

JASSM-ER getting a new wing

The U.S. Air Force has given $37.7 million to Lockheed Martin for the “continued development of a new wing design for the Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile – Extended Range (JASSM-ER)”, the company’s press release said.

C-5Ms assigned to Dover AFB grounded

Eighteen Lockheed C-5Ms assigned to Dover Air Force Base have been grounded for inspections following an incident in Spain whereby a C-5M had a nose gear locking issue while landing.

Russia considering STOVL fighter

Russia’s Deputy Defense Minister Yury Borisov said on Jul. 17 that his ministry is in talks with the Russian aerospace industry on “the development of an aircraft with a short take-off and landing, possibly with a vertical take-off and landing.”
