A Vietnam People’s Air Force (VPAF) Su-22 fighter has crashed while landing at Yen Bai airport in northern Vietnam on Jan. 31.
USN mothballs 28 MQ-8Cs
The U.S. Navy’s Program Executive Office for Strike and Unmanned Aviation has decided to maintain 10 MQ-8C Fire Scout unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in active service, while keeping the remaining 28 MQ-8Cs in Level 2 preservation. This means that the UAVs in preservation will be stored in such a way that they can easily be restored to service when needed.

Final flight of HAWC program
The recent successful final flight test of the joint DARPA and U.S. Air Force’s Hypersonic Airbreathing Weapon Concept (HAWC) program marks another milestone in the development of hypersonic technology. With the Lockheed Martin missile, powered by the Aerojet Rocketdyne scramjet, exceeding speeds of Mach 5 and flying higher than 60,000 feet, and farther than 300 nautical miles, the program has achieved its initial objectives and provided critical data to the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL).

F-16 supply to Ukraine: Biden says no, Poland may say yes
Ukraine’s efforts to obtain F-16 fighter jets have received a boost, as Poland has expressed willingness to supply the combat jets to the country. Andriy Yermak, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s top advisor, announced that the country has received “positive signals” from Poland. However, Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has stressed that any decision on the transfer of fighter jets would be made in full coordination with NATO allies.

25 years later, former responders remember Air Force One incident
It was a day that many people in Central Illinois will never forget. The U.S. Presidential aircraft, Air Force One, had one of its wheels stuck in the mud at Willard Airport in Savoy. President Bill Clinton was on his way to speak at the University of Illinois at the time.
