The U.S. Army has selected Northrop Grumman over BAE Systems for the Common Infrared Countermeasure (CIRCM) program. The $35 million contract has options for engineering and manufacturing development and low-rate initial production.

AIM-9X Block II enters full-rate production
The U.S. Navy announced that the AIM-9X Block II air-to-air missile has entered full-rate production on Aug. 17. The most important upgrade to the missile is a “lock on after launch” capability.

U.S. deploys 2 MQ-1s to Latvia
Two MQ-1s from the 147th Reconnaissance Wing are currently at Lielvarde Air Base in Latvia for a training exercise. This is the first time the U.S. military has deployed drones in Latvia.
