Japanese report says cruise missile will be displayed
Taiwan's Legislative Speaker Wang Jin-pyng seems to have unwittingly revealed that the Hsiung Feng IIE cruise missile will be displayed for the first time on Double Ten National Day.
Meanwhile, a defense analyst has said that Washington will try to hamper the development of the missiles by withholding sophisticated satellite guidance technology from the Taiwanese military.
"The US has objected to Taiwan developing mid- to long-range missiles, fearing it could embolden the island's authorities to take more provocative policies toward China," said Wang Kao-cheng, professor of strategic studies of Tamkang University.
