Indian Air Force relaxed rules to allow PC-7 Mark II to compete

Business Standard has obtained documents showing that the Indian Air Force relaxed it requirements for a basic trainer in order to allow Swiss Pilatus to compete with the PC-7 Mark II.

Between March and October 2009, at least 12 benchmarks were modified. The requirement for a zero-zero ejection seat was relaxed as the PC-7 Mk II has zero-60 ejection seats.

The IAF also no longer require the cockpit to be pressurized, the PC-7 Mk II has an unpressurized cockpit. The glide ratio was changed from 12:1 to 10:1, the same for PC-7 Mark II.
