Russia’s Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu announced today that the S-400 air defense missile system will be deployed to its air base in Latakia, Syria.

The news came after a Turkish F-16 fighter shot down a Russian Su-24 fighter bomber at the Turkish-Syrian border on Nov. 24.
