The electrical grid will help the base, home to F-22s, independent from Hawaiian Electric. The facility can take in 10 tons of trash, ranging from plastics, green waste and other waste, each day.

Airmen will be able to carry on their daily duties when electricity from Hawaiian Electric stops flowing into the base.
