Chairman of Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC), Liao Jung Hsin, said in a recent interview that his company is now focusing on modifying the twin-seat F-CK-1B fighter into an advanced jet trainer for the RoCAF.

According to Liao, the new jet will make extensive use of composite materials to reduce weight and the radar plus gun will be removed. The undercarriage will be modified so that the trainer can withstand abuse by student pilots during landing.
He hope to have two prototypes flying in four years time.
