AIM-9X Block II is now a BVR weapon

During a briefing at the 2016 Sea-Air-Space Exposition, an officer from the U.S. Navy disclosed that the AIM-9X Block II missile now has a “beyond-visual-range” capability.

Capt. Jim Stoneman, chief of the U.S. Navy’s Air-to-Air Missiles Program Office added that range of the dogfight missile has “about doubled.”
