USN planning full and open competition for anti-ship missile

Despite giving Lockheed Martin a contract for an air-launched long-range anti-ship, the U.S. Navy is still planning to hold an open competition for a anti-ship missile around fiscal 2017.

Navy acquisition chief Sean Stackley said the LRASM was an urgent requirement for deployment in the 2018 timeframe.

The new missile is projected to complete testing and deploy in 2024.
