Latest satellite images obtained by Center for Strategic and International Studies revealed extensive construction on Spratly Island – occupied by Vietnam – in the South China Sea.

The runway has been lengthened to 3,300 feet from 2,500 feet. It will likely be 4,000 feet long once reclamation and construction work are over.

Two large hangars are also being erected on the northwest side of the island.
