A formerly secret Pentagon report says USMC fast jet pilots training at MCAS Yuma are unable to “train as they would fight.”

An audit found that the the training ranges are not connected. Therefore, a F-35 pilot is unable to employ “stand-off weapons during normal exercises, could not fly in his fighting formation, and was limited to where he could train with live ordnance.”

AV-8B pilots complained that there were insufficient number of live JDAMs for them to train on and the range lacked moving targets for them to practice attacking using laser-guided bombs.
