An F-35A assigned to the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) made an emergency landing at Hakodate airport on Dec. 8.
The jet left Misawa airbase at around 11:15 hrs local time and encounter difficulties over the Sea of Japan around half an hour later and the pilot diverted to Hakodate to land at 12:20 p.m. Another F-35A that was accompanying the mishap aircraft landed at 1 p.m.
