Israel seeks to halt sale of P-800 missiles to Syria

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin that Moscow should not sell the P-800 Yakhont supersonic anti-ship missile to Syria.

Haaretz reported that Netanyahu phoned Putin and told him the missiles posed “significant danger to its navy vessels in the Mediterranean Sea.”

Meanwhile, Ehud Barak is expected to be the first Israeli Defense Minister to visit Moscow and he plans to further discuss the issue with the Russians.
