The Royal Air Force is battling the Royal Navy to ensure that its Tornado fighter bombers are safe from budget cuts to be announced by the British government next week.
It is thought that the Harriers will be axed leaving the Royal Navy without a fighter for its new aircraft carriers until 2018.
