During the 2010 AMRAAM International Users’ Conference in Florida, the U.S. Air Force 649th Armament Systems Squadron warned international users that the missile could face component shortages starting from 2012.
This is because component makers have withdrawn from the manufacturing program and the USAF is working with Raytheon on the possibility of developing replacement components.
