A group of retired British Army generals, Navy admirals and academics have called for the British government to stop the Harrier from retirement and withdraw the Tornado instead.
In a private letter to the British Prime Minster, the group also suggested buying one squadron of F/A-18 Super Hornets to operate from American carriers and the future British carrier.
