Gates offered retired aircraft carriers to China

During his recent visit to Beijing, U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates told Chinese President Hu Jingtao that Washington is willing to sell retired USS Kitty Hawk and USS Ranger to China to help narrow the trade deficit between both countries.

The sale will also help create jobs in the United States as both carriers need to be refurbished extensively before being transferred to China. It will bring in stable amount of revenue as spares are needed over the years to help maintain both ships.
