An analyst with the Australian Strategic Policy Institute said Australia needs a Plan B and even a Plan C in case deliveries of F-35s are delayed further.
The report by Andrew Davies said Plan B is to extend the life of the classic Hornets while Plan C is to buy more Super Hornets so that Australia can maintain its air supremacy.
