Japan’s Sankei news reported that Japanese military aircraft have been shadowed by Chinese fighters for the first time.
The incident happened around Aug. 17 when a EP-3 and a OP-3 were shadowed south of the median line between China and Japan. As the Chinese fighters have entered Japan’s air defense identification zone, JASDF F-15s were immediately scrambled. The FLANKER-class fighters then broke off.
