Aircraft carrier move to Florida deferred not canceled

U.S. Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus said during a visit to Jacksonville, Florida that moving an aircraft carrier to Naval Station Mayport has only been deferred and not canceled.

“Even though we had to defer moving a carrier to Mayport, because of purely budgetary considerations, we remain absolutely committed to strategic dispersal of our forces on the East Coast,” Mabus said.
