A C-17 that landed at Forward Operating Base Shank, Afghanistan on Jan. 12 suffered $70 million in damages after the plane overshot the runway.
Investigators concluded that the pilot and co-pilot failed to identify that the landing distance required to safely stop the aircraft exceeded the runway length.
