Laser powers Lockheed Martin’s Stalker UAS for 48 hours

Lockheed Martin’s Stalker Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) was able to remain airborne for 48 hours, an improvement of 2,400 percent, thanks to an innovative laser power system from LaserMotive.

At the end of the flight test, conducted in a wind tunnel, the UAS’ battery still had more energy stored than it did at the beginning of the test. The test was concluded only because the flight had already surpassed the initial endurance goals set by the team.
