A Marine Corps F-18 fighter flying from Honolulu back to Iwakuni, Japan, made an emergency landing on Midway atoll early Thursday.
It was returning to Japan along with three other jets and a KC-10 after supporting the Rim of the Pacific exercise.
One other jet also landed on the island and the rest proceed to Wake Island after circling the atoll.
