Britain has decided to get rid of its Goalkeeper 30 mm close-in weapon systems (CIWSs) as most ships carrying the weapon faces retirement.
By 2014, HMS Bulwark will be the only ship left in the Royal Navy fitted with the Dutch-made CIWS. A decision has been made to retire it in 2015 due to high costs in maintaining just two systems.
