RoCAF steps up overseas training

Besides sending its C-130 to Singapore for navigation training next year, Taiwan also plans to send personnel to the U.S. for aerial refueling lessons.

It will stop sending airmen to South East Asia for long-distance aviation training and change to Guam instead.

  1. Why does Taiwan need aerial refueling lessons or navigation lessons? Taiwan is UN-refuelled range from China, Japan or Korea. And possibly Guam depending on the particular airframe.

Is Taiwan planning to fly to Urumqi? And what navigation training? Taiwan’s their island. If they can’t find their way around Taipei, Kaohsiung, etc they have a bigger issue.

This type of training’s primary purpose is political. And it’s a welcome signal that Taiwan is finally serious about their present trajectory to becoming a PRC customs clearing zone.
