HMLA-469 scrambled their alert aircraft to fight off insurgents when Camp Bastion was attacked. One team of insurgents was eliminated once the helicopter was able to determine the enemy position.
Five of the squadron’s aircraft took to the skies to provide aerial cover until sunrise during the night of the attack.
