India and Japan are close to signing a deal to sell up to 15 US-2 amphibious planes to India.
The aircraft is to be certified for civilian use in order to comply with Japan’s 1967 ban on arms exports.
Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is expected to firm up plans during his visit to Japan this week.
