Raytheon and the U.S. Army has successfully completed the first guided test vehicle (GTV) flight series of the Accelerated Improved Intercept Initiative (AI3) missile and its fire control system.
The AI3 is a missile-based system for Counter-Rocket, Artillery, Mortar (C-RAM) missions. Raytheon says the system can engage cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles as well. A live-fire engagement is scheduled for later this year.
