Asahi Shimbun reported that the price of Japan’s F-35s are 50 percent higher than U.S.-made models as 24 components of the jet are made locally.
Due to the small production run, they are more expensive to manufacture. 17 parts are for the engine fans and turbines and the rest are radar components.
