The U.S. Air Force has modified 27 U-2s to increase the cockpit pressure from 4.4 pounds per square inch to more than 8 psi.
The Cabin Altitude Reduction Effort (CARE) program eliminates the risk of decompression sickness with modifications to the cockpit pressure regulator and safety valve, and engine bleed schedule.
